Welcome....
This website is the prototype web tool for selecting and tracking sample sites from a Master Sample of a stream network for monitoring status and trend. The prototype will be developed using streams in the Lower Columbia Basin (a GRTS sample for both the Oregon and Washington sides has already been drawn), and we anticipate eventual expansion of the data (which is currently 42,917 sites) to a much larger region (state or region wide).
Concept:
The goal of this project is to create an easy-to-use web tool that will enable the selection of an efficient, statistically sound sample for monitoring status and trends of environmental resources, including the ability to:
- "pre-select" sites and store them in a database
- Filter queries using site attributes in the database to add statistical structure, e.g., stratification
- Capture site usage characteristics
- Link to analysis functions/tools
Feedback:
As we continue developing this web tool, we will require feedback from the user community. This feedback will be critical in helping us design the query system, assign attributes and adjust the database structure to best meet your needs.
Please select the "Request Access" option from the menu above to have an account created for you. This account will allow you to best utilize the system (including saving queries - once that functionality is available) and better participate in an open dialog through the "Feedback" link in the upper right hand corner of the site. This site is not only the prototype, but also the live development site, and so there may be times when the site is unavailable or partially broken as changes are being implemented.
This account will also allow us to contact you when major/new features become available to which we would like feedback on.
When you request this account/login, any fields which have a red asterisk to the right of the title/label are required.
Disclaimer: Not only is this site a work in progress, it currently resides on a simple PC which is sitting on the developers desk. If performance appears sluggish at any point, just understand that the cause may not be a problem with the tool, but that the hardware is most likely not adequate for this task (especially when there are several users accessing the database at the same time).
